About Darla Powell Phillips

When Darla Powell Phillips tells you her story, it will include a paralyzing childhood moment in a supermarket when a strange, kind, intuitive woman helped her pick the right cantaloupe.  Coach Darla will tell you about being vulnerable, about being street-smart, and she’ll make you believe that compassion resides in every human heart.  She’ll put you at ease, and make you laugh with her original, Texas-style vocabulary.  When you reach your moment of self-discovery, she’ll be the supportive guide who helps you cross the border.

Coach Darla gulped hard and got a grip on life early on.  Today she draws from her personal journey to support business executives, managers and professionals who sense that yesterday’s rules for success no longer apply — people who need somebody strong, smart, authentic and yes…,  kind, to find their way in an uncertain world.

With a vision-guided plan that aligns their energies around money, time, enjoyment, physical vitality and creativity, Coach Darla guides people through powerful transformations in their personal and professional lives.  She helps people to recognize, understand and tell the truth, to discover passion for what they truly want in life and to create a vision that will help them to move forward with clarity, focus, ease and grace.

With more than 10 years of coaching experience, Coach Darla is certified through Clarity International and the Academy for Coaching Excellence.  She is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and is credentialed as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC).  She is the former owner of Bodymasters, Inc., where she coached her clients to achieve wellness through nutrition and exercise.  She is passionate and active in promoting high standards in the coaching industry.

A native Houstonian and lifelong learner, Coach Darla today is the compassionate and present caregiver of her adult brother Dana.  Using her experience in this role, she is currently developing a coaching curriculum to support other caregivers.  Coach Darla is also the loving grandmother of John Gregory and Sydney.  She is a longtime community volunteer and philanthropist, supporting organizations that include CanCare and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  For her community and professional service, she was honored as a “Woman of Excellence” by the Federation of Houston Professional Women in 2002 and “Woman of the Year” by the Galleria Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association in 2010.
